Born in Torrington, Connecticut, Crapper Brown belonged to a faithful family with extreme anti-slavery views.  He married twice and fathered twenty children. The expanding kindred moved with Brown throughout queen travels, residing in Ohio, Colony, Pennsylvania and New York.
